iPad mini with Retina Display

I was very undecided  to buy an ipad mini, I needed a portable, comfortable, lightweight and fast  device.

I did not want to buy a laptop, I already own one, a macbook pro mid 2010, which although it has a few years it's still able to meet my needs ..

I must point out that I'm not new in the world of tablet, I purchased an iPad 2 years ago but the experience was not entirely positive, the applications were not yet at the levels of the iPhone counterpart, the real advantage resided only in the increased screen (too much) and in the battery.

Well yes, the screen of the iPad 2 (3.4, air) is too big for my taste, I find it awkward to use without a support, such as a table or on your own legs when you are on the couch.

I find the size of the iPad mini perfect, the screen is suitable to perform any task, it is very lightweight and its blunt design facilitates handling.

You can safely use it with two hands while waiting for the subway or with one hand while you are already on board and  you have to grasp to avoid the risk of falling.

Before buying the iPad I tried a samsung galaxy tab 3 7.0 and I must admit that the experience was a disaster, so I decided to return it at the store.

I think the Apple's ecosystem is winning, and since I also have a Mac and an iPhone, I find that everything is complete.

The thing that amazed me more is the time you can save by using an ipad, we can write long texts on the move (the iPhone for me is too little, after a while, I get tired view) quickly modify pictures (using Photoshop Touch), edit HTML\css spreadsheets, see a pdf comfortably and of course all those things we usually do with our smartphone.

I admit, however, that as far as the write I still can not find all the feedback that returns the touch, so I decided to opt for buying an external keyboard, precisely this.

With the addition of this keyboard, the iPad becomes a sort of netbook, and  interesting presence of specific shortcuts, such as home button, music control keys, the key to lock the device, the call to spotlight and adjustment of sound and brightness' is very interesting.

So, when I know that I will have to write a lot, all I have to do is insert the iPad in the keyboard and take it with me.

As regard the protection I opted for a classic smart cover and for the back a basic Amazon cover.

I chose the Mini model with retina display purely as a matter of hardware, buy a device like the mini with a simple hardware comparable to an iPad 2 did not seem the case.

I do not need 4G module, so I took the Wifi version, when I need to use the ipad an there isn't any wifi connection, I use the iPhone as a hotspot.

In Italy the price for the iPad is 389 €, but if you do not live here is very probably that to buy from you is much more convenient, Italian taxes are among the most highest in Europe.

I can not recommend the purchase enough, if you think it can be for you give it a chance, certainly it will not disappoint you.

Ero molto indeciso sulla decisione di acquistare un ipad mini, avevo bisogno di un dispositivo portatile, comodo, leggero e veloce.

Non volevo acquistare un portatile, ne possiedo gia' uno, un macbook pro mid 2010, che anche se ha qualche anno riesce ancora a soddisfare le mie esigenze..

Devo precisare di non essere nuovo nel mondo dei tablet, acquistai all'uscita un iPad 2 ma l'esperienza non fu totalmente positiva, le applicazioni non erano ancora ai livelli della controparte iPhone, il vero vantaggio risiedeva solo nello schermo maggiorato (troppo) e nella batteria.

Ebbene si', lo schermo dell'iPad 2 (3,4,air) e' troppo grande per i miei gusti, lo trovo scomodo da usare senza un appoggio, come ad esempio un tavolo o le proprie gambe quando si e' sul divano.

Trovo invece perfetta la dimensione del mini, lo schermo e' adatto a svolgere qualsiasi compito, e' leggero e il design smussato favorisce l'impugnatura.

Si puo' tranquillamente usare con due mani mentre si aspetta la metro oppure impugnarlo con una mentre ci si e' gia' a bordo per non rischiare di  cadere.

Prima di acquistare l'iPad ho provato un samsung galaxy tab 3 7.0 e devo ammettere che l'esperienza e' stata disastrosa, ho deciso quindi di restituirlo in negozio.

Penso che l'ecosistema di Apple sia vincente e, dato che possiedo anche mac ed iphone, trovo che il tutto si completi.

La cosa che mi ha stupito di piu' e' il tempo che si riesce a risparmiare usando un ipad, possiamo scrivere lunghi testi in movimento (l'iPhone per me e' troppo piccolo, dopo un po' mi si stanca la vista), ritoccare velocemente delle foto (usando Photoshop Touch), modificare fogli HTML\CSS , consultare comodamente un .pdf e naturalmente tutte quelle cose che abitualmente facciamo con lo smartphone.

Ammetto pero' che per quanto riguarda lo scrivere non riesco ancora a trovarmi del tutto con il feedback che il touch restituisce, per questo ho deciso di optare per l'acquisto di una tastiera esterna, precisamente questa.

Con l'aggiunta di questa tastiera l'iPad diventa una sorta di netbook, e' davvero molto interessante anche la presenza di particolari scorciatoie, come il pulsante home, i tasti del controllo musicale, il tasto per bloccare il dispositivo, il richiamo a spotlight e la regolazione del suono e della luminosita'.

Quindi, quando so che dovro' scrivere molto, tutto quello che devo fare e' alloggiare l'iPad nella tastiera e portarlo con me.

Per quanto riguarda la protezione ho optato per una classica smart cover e per il retro la basic di Amazon.

Ho scelto il modello Mini con display retina per una questione prettamente di hardware, comprare un dispositivo come il semplice mini con un hardware paragonabile ad un iPad 2 non mi sembrava il caso.

Non ho bisogno del modulo 4G, ho quindi preso la versione Wifi, quando ne ho bisogno utilizzo l'iPhone come hotspot .

In italia il prezzo e' di 389€, ma se non abitate qui e' molto probabile che acquistarlo da voi sia molto piu' conveniente, le tasse italiane sono tra le piu' alte d'Europa.

Non posso che consigliare l'acquisto, se pensate che possa fare al caso vostro dategli una possibilita', sicuramente non vi deludera'.
